Happy birthday Chimène! Latest news (January - February 2025)

Today, Dutch media personality and former Luv' singer Chimène van Oosterhout is blowing out 61 candles!! We wish her a happy birthday!!!


Chimène is a mulitalented power woman. Her CV is impressive (including a long career on Dutch TV and a brief experience as a Luv' member between January 2019 and February 2020). She is a cancer and heart failure survivor, actress, yoga instructor, author, and vlogger. She is the mother of a charismatic twenty-one-year-old son, Lyam.


Chimène was born on February 11th, 1964 at the Princess Margriet clinic in Willemstad, Curaçao to a Dutch father (Jan van Oosterhout) and an Antillean mother of Indian and Surinamese Creole descent (Conchita van Oosterhout-Fränkel).


At age seven, she moved with her family to the Netherlands. As a teenager, she modelled occasionally. After her A-level, she studied communication and psychology. From 1987 to 1989, she was a PR manager at Club Med. Over the years, she has learned foreign languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Swedish).

Cruise Life


"Cruise Life" is a new TV show on RTL 4 that takes viewers into the world of cruise vacations. Hosted by Chimène, the series premiered on January 19th, with its first season featuring four episodes, running until February 9th.




Each episode followed Chimène as she engaged with guests aboard the ship. Some were embarking on their first-ever cruise to Norway, while others were seasoned travellers well-acquainted with this unique form of vacation.





Nederland Ontdekt


Chimène recently appeared on "Nederland Ontdekt" on RTL 4, a TV program that explores a variety of topics, including hidden gems, luxury, travel, health, and beauty.


During the January 26th and February 9th episodes, Chimène visited the Dutch Caribbean island Bonaire.






Honouring Manuëla Kemp


Chimène paid tribute to her colleague, Dutch TV personality Manuëla Kemp, who recently died.



On December 7th, 2024, Manuëla was seriously injured in a single-vehicle scooter accident in Loulé, Portugal. She was in a coma in a hospital in Faro. In early January, it became clear that she had suffered severe brain damage from the impact, which was irreversible, and that she would pass away within a foreseeable time. After being transferred to the Netherlands, she passed away on January 17th, 2025, at the age of 61, in the Tergooi Hospital in Hilversum. She was buried on January 24, 2025, at Zorgvlied.


One of Chimène and Manuëla's last meetings was during a Radio Veronica reunion party on August 31st, 2024, marking the 50th anniversary of the station’s final broadcast. The celebration took place aboard the iconic transmission ship De Norderney at Amsterdam's NDSM wharf.

Photo shoot for "Business Women Nederland" magazine


On January 10th, Chimène participated in a photo shoot for the February issue of "Business Women Nederland" magazine. Business Women Nederland (BWNL) is a platform founded to give female entrepreneurs in the Netherlands more visibility, foster connections, and advocate for equal opportunities in business.
