Maandag Middag Matinee (March 31st and April 14th)

Dutch all-round artist Anton van Stekelenborg-Poirters hosts the weekly radio show "Maandag Middag Matinee" on Dit Is Helmond.
During the broadcast on March 31st, he asked listeners to vote for their favourite José Hoebee song between "Time Goes By" (1984), "Secret Love" (1982), "All Around My Hat" (1986), and "I Will Follow Him" (1982). "I Will Follow Him" received the most votes and won. You can click here to listen to the radio program (Anton announced the results at 24:24).
In the broadcast on April 14th, listeners were given the choice between four Luv' songs performed in Spanish: "Ann-Maria" (1980), "Casanova" (1979), "Eres Mi Mejor Amante" (You're the Greatest Lover, 1979), and "Si, Que Si" (Ooh, Yes I Do - 1980). The Spanish lyrics for these tracks were written by the legendary Spanish singer and record producer Alfredo Garrido, who passed away last September. "Casanova" received the most votes and won. José Hoebee in Privé: "Because of this hit, I celebrated Christmas with Mies" (April 2nd)
The April 2nd issue of Story magazine featured an article on José Hoebee's reaction to a surprising resurgence of the song "Even aan mijn moeder vragen", which has recently gone viral on TikTok and gained popularity on Spotify. Originally performed by the Dutch band Bloem in 1980, José's late husband, Will Hoebee, produced the track.
“This song is suddenly doing really well on TikTok and Spotify,” José shared. “Its lyrics are timeless, and the melody still holds up. I was at the recording session back then at Wisseloord Studios. We knew it was a catchy song, but no one expected it would make a comeback decades later. It only reached #14 on the Dutch Top 40 then—we had hoped for more.”
The collaboration with Bloem also brought José and Will into contact with the family of the band’s lead singer, Joost Timp. His mother was none other than legendary Dutch TV personality Mies Bouwman. “We even spent Christmas with Joost and his family in 1980. Mies personally cooked Christmas dinner, and her husband, Leen Timp, was a perfect host. It was truly unforgettable,” José recalled. “Thinking back on those moments brings back such beautiful memories. Will would have been so proud to see his old production back in the spotlight.”
In late 1984 and early 1985, Joost Timp continued collaborating with the Hoebees, participating in the TV musical ABBACaDaBra. The production, overseen by Will, featured an All-Star cast including José, Marga Scheide, Ron Brandsteder, Benny Neyman, and Bonnie St. Claire.
