* The March 29th issue of Privé magazine featured an article about José Hoebee's relationship with the legendary Dutch singer André Hazes who passed away in 2004. The former Luv' member always denied having a love affair with the King of Levenslied, However, Bert Hiddema, in his recently-published biography "Hazes - Het ware levensverhaal" (Hazes - the true story), insinuated the contrary. "There are rumours about Luv' singer José Hoebee, whose career was managed by Pim ter Linde's company Interlinde like him. She kissed him anytime they met. So intimate? He kissed her in return and didn't do it to everyone. Sometimes he met her during his live shows and TV appearances," Hiddema wrote.
José reacted to this tale. "Oh, my God! Do I have to justify myself? I don't want to do it. This is nonsense! I rarely give interviews, but I have to say something about this stupid story this time. What do they really know about the situation? Indeed, I often kissed André on his cheek as a greeting. We never kissed each other on the mouth. My husband Will, who died in 2012, and I were friends of André and his then-wife Ellen. André had his birthday one day after Will, and we often celebrated their birthdays together. We were just friends. That's all!," José said. "Our friendship lasted as long as Ellen was part of his life. His next wife, Rachel, didn't like me. I remember my last conversation with André. It was a sad meeting at the Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk. I had dinner there with my sisters. It was a few weeks before his death. André stayed in this hotel and told me: "I'm going to break up with Rachel. That's why I don't live at home," José added.
* José gave a phone interview on Omroep Brabant's radio show "Graat & De Laat" on April 22nd, as part of a "1970s weekend". The singer discussed her hectic years as a member of Luv'. When asked what her favourite band of the 1970s was, she answered "Creedence Clearwater Revival".
