Luv' latest news: De Foute 728 + De Nederpopcast + José Hoebee in Privé

Dernière mise à jour : 14 juil. 2022

* Recently, Flemish radio station Qmusic asked its listeners to vote for the 728 kitschiest pop tracks of all time (De Foute 728). "You're the Greatest Lover" by Luv' has reached the 331st position. The trio's signature song peaked at #496 on the previous Foute 728 last year. It means that Luv's classic hit gained 165 positions!

Last week, Qmusic's Dutch sister station also set up its own list of kitsch classics named De Foute 1500. You're the Greatest Lover peaked at #693. Click here to read my article about it.

* De Nederpopcast (Season 2, Episode 4) by Dutch station AVROTROS/NPO Radio 2 was broadcast on June 29th and dealt with Luv'. Carolien Borgers and Tim Treffers presented the podcast. Luv's creator Hans van Hemert and the ex-member of the legendary girl group Marga Scheide (who took part in all the trio's line-up) discussed their success story abroad.

Marga Scheide, Patty Brard and José Hoebee travelled the world, and sometimes they didn't remember where they woke up. The ladies had a private jet to travel through Europe for TV performances and live shows. They flew by Concorde to Mexico to receive a gold record.

Luv' is often synonymous with feud, intrigue and jealousy. Marga and Hans told behind-the-scenes anecdotes. A quarrel in a hotel in their heyday was nearly fatal. When Patty unexpectedly left the group in 1980, a million guilder with the French record company Carrere was about to be signed.

"In the Netherlands, the Dolly Dots are often considered the most successful Dutch girl group ever. If you analyze the international record sales, Luv' were much bigger. The ladies went through many things in the four years they were active. Their story has to be told," Tim Treffers said.

* The latest issue of Privé magazine features a short article about José Hoebee. On June 16th, the singer's official fan page on Facebook announced the death of her 15-year-old dog, Toontje. Royalty expert Marc van der Linden was Toontje's first master. Due to an allergy to dog hair, he gave the pet to José.
