Patty Brard's latest news

Shownieuws
Patty Brard appears sporadically on SBS6's infotainment news program "Shownieuws" as a showbiz expert.
Among the items she and her colleagues discussed:
Manuëla Kemp's funeral (January 24th)
On January 17th, Dutch media personality Manuëla Kemp passed away at the age of 61. She died at the Tergooi Hospital in Hilversum following a serious injury sustained in a scooter accident in Portugal the previous month. Manuëla and Patty had a good relationship. Manuëla's funeral took place on January 24th, and Patty attended, reporting on it for Shownieuws the same day. During the report, the former Luv' singer became emotional while discussing the funeral.
Matthijs van Nieuwkerk very demanding (February 7th)
Patty discussed Matthijs van Nieuwkerk's appearance at the Talpa building for an interview on Edwin Evers’ Radio 538 show but under strict conditions. He was there to promote his upcoming summer tour with the Sven Hammond Big Band and made it clear that he did not want to be filmed or approached by the media.
During the interview, Matthijs carefully steered the conversation toward his music and avoided discussing the DWDD controversy.
The media personality hosted the talk show "De Wereld Draait Door" (often abbreviated as DWDD) on BNNVARA/NPO 1 between 2005 and 2020. The DWDD controversy emerged in November 2022 when de Volkskrant reported allegations of a toxic work environment on De Wereld Draait Door set, with former employees accusing host Matthijs van Nieuwkerk of abusive behaviour, including extreme outbursts and public humiliation. Van Nieuwkerk initially responded defensively but later revised his statement after pressure from BNNVARA. The fallout led to his departure from the network and the cancellation of several of his shows. In September 2023, he publicly expressed regret for his actions and stated a desire to move forward.
Patty noted that both he and Edwin Evers had privately agreed beforehand that the subject would not be brought up. When asked about the past few years, he only acknowledged that it had been a difficult time for everyone involved with De Wereld Draait Door, but he did not elaborate. Instead, he quickly shifted the focus back to his new project.
One of the key revelations from the interview was that television no longer plays a role in Matthijs' life. He stated that he has no plans to return to TV and no longer sees it as a source of happiness or fulfilment. Instead, he is pursuing other creative ventures, like music.
Patty emphasised that despite being in the same building as Shownieuws, where cameras are constantly rolling, Matthijs insisted on not being filmed, reinforcing his desire to control his public image and media presence.
Ron Brandsteder’s Passing (February 10th and 14th)

The legendary media personality Ron Brandsteder passed away on February 10th. He and Patty were briefly married (July 1979-May 1980).
Patty chose not to appear on Shownieuws following the passing of her ex-husband out of respect. She felt it would be inappropriate to discuss him on television so soon after his death. Instead, Shownieuws invited Mariska van Kolck to appear on its February 10th broadcast.
Privé's editor-in-chief Evert Santegoeds, a close friend of Patty, explained that while she had spoken on the show about other losses before, discussing a former spouse felt different, especially since Brandsteder had been married to his wife Yvonne for over 40 years. Patty was deeply shocked by the news and reflected on their past together but preferred to stay out of the spotlight.
Her decision was praised as a classy and considerate gesture, with her colleagues agreeing that it was the right thing to do.
Patty shared her thoughts on the February 14th, 2025, episode of Shownieuws, four days after the passing of Ron. She explained that she only found out about Ron's passing through journalist Evert Santegoeds, as she hadn't been in close contact with Ron himself. Patty also emphasised that Ron was a private person, and she felt it would not have been right to immediately speak about him on television out of respect for his family. She reflected on their past together, acknowledging both fond memories and challenges while clarifying that she still held a special place in her heart for Ron and his loved ones.
Patty Brard Joins Second Season of Stars on Stage (February 4th)
Patty participated in the second season of RTL 4's show "Stars on Stage", where Dutch celebrities are trained to become musical stars. Alongside Miss Brard, other participants include Marco Schuitmaker, Numidia, Emma Kok, Everon Jackson Hooi, Gallyon van Vessem, Rayen Panday, Janice Blok, Keizer, and Koen Pieter van Dijk, as announced by the network on February 4th.
The performances are again judged by Albert Verlinde and Paul de Leeuw, with a rotating guest critic each week. Last season, speed skater Michel Mulder took home the win. The show, hosted by Jamai Loman and Buddy Vedder, will air later this year.
A musical about Patty Brard?
While last year's Videoland series about Patty Brard didn’t leave a lasting impact and was met with mixed reactions, De Telegraaf journalist Jordi Versteegden believed a musical about Patty’s eventful life could be a possibility.
During a discussion on the February 10th episode of the "Strikt Privé" podcast, Versteegden suggested that Brard’s life story—full of ups and downs—could be adapted into a stage production, much like the recently announced Rob de Nijs musical. However, Evert Santegoeds remained sceptical, arguing that such musicals are rare and usually reserved for artists of greater cultural significance.
Patty Brard's Dating Show in New Podcast

Patty is set to host a new podcast about dating. In "Datecast", the larger-than-life media personality will guide singles in their search for love. The concept of dating via an audio medium is simple: participants choose their dates without seeing them. "It’s all about voice-based dating, focusing on content and what you say—not on appearance, filters, or anything else. You’re chosen based on your voice and what you have to share," Miss Brard explained in an announcement video on Instagram. The podcast will be available weekly starting in April.
Interview on Broadcast Magazine (February 21st)

Dutch lawyer and TV personality Natacha Harlequin interviewed Patty on the February 21st episode of Broadcast Magazine's online talk show. She got overly emotional while interviewing the diva, showering her with praise for being a supportive friend. The conversation turned into a personal chat rather than a media-focused discussion, with Natacha expressing deep gratitude for Patty’s support after her controversial exit from Shownieuws.
In late 2024, Natacha was fired from Shownieuws after using the platform to defend her client, Ali B, who was facing serious allegations. The incident damaged the show’s credibility, as it appeared celebrities could use it for personal PR. In the talk show, she reminisced about how Patty stood by her during tough times, even comparing her to a media "professor" for her longevity in the industry.
While the conversation was heartfelt, critics found it excessive, with some arguing that Natacha had "sold her soul" by trying to juggle being Ali B’s lawyer and a TV commentator. Media analyst Tina Nijkamp agreed that Natacha made a huge mistake but acknowledged that having a friend like Patty can be valuable during difficult moments.

Alles Voor De Show (March 5th)

Thom Goderie & Patty Brard on "Alles Voor de Show"
Patty appeared on the March 5th episode of the online series "Alles Voor De Show," an extension of Shownieuws. She was interviewed by Thom Goderie. She mentioned her former Luv' colleagues, Marga Scheide and José Hoebee, and their decision not to join her on stage for her forthcoming Panther Party at the Ziggo Dome. "I would have loved to have them with me, but unfortunately, they don’t want to come," she explained. They said Patty should have invited them personally instead of going through their management.
She clarified that she initially wanted to handle the situation professionally to determine if a reunion was even possible before having a direct conversation. However, she understood their decision. "If you don’t want to do it, then it’s better not to," she said.
Despite the rejection, Patty remained positive: "Sometimes things are so complicated that you just have to draw a line and start fresh. Life is too short to dwell on the past." She added that if Marga and José changed their minds, they would be "always more than welcome" to join her birthday celebration.
Patty in Privé (March 5th)
In anticipation of her 70th birthday, the March 5th issue of Privé featured an article about Patty Brard, along with reactions from several celebrities, including Gerard Joling, Carlo Boszhard, Karin Bloemen, Tina Nijkamp, Richard Groenendijk, Viktor Brand, and Kees Tol. Her ex-Luv' colleague, Marga Scheide, also shared her thoughts: "A lot of things happened in the past, but that doesn’t mean you can't congratulate someone on their birthday. Patty, happy birthday and have fun at your party!"

Patty Brard’s Panther Party Show Still Not Sold Out
Patty Brard is preparing for her Panther Party, which will take place at the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome on March 14th, in celebration of her upcoming 70th birthday. Despite a year of promotion, tickets still haven’t sold out.
The Prima Donna had hoped to cash in on this major event. However, the venue remains partially empty even a year after its announcement. Various promotions and discounts are now in place to fill the seats.
Patty emphasised that her event is all about giving back to her audience. In the above-mentioned interview with Thom Goderie on "Alles Voor De Show", she explained: "Without fans, you're nothing. That's one of the reasons I'm doing this Ziggo Dome thing and why I insist on offering discounts and other promotions—just to thank people. That's also why I love creating collections. People want a piece of me but at a more affordable price."
Media critic Victor Vlam reacted to Patty's comments and wrote on X: "This is ridiculous. But she has to do something—the Ziggo Dome show is just over a week away and is still not sold out."
The event will feature the "Mega Meiden Groep", a supergroup of ex-members of iconic Dutch female pop formations, including Patty Brard (Luv'), Esther Oosterbeek and Anita Heilker (Dolly Dots), Marga Bult (Babe), Jetty Weels and Caroline de Windt (Mai Tai), Laura Vlasblom and Mandy Huydts (Frizzle Sizzle), Rowan Moore (Centerfold) and Caren Wood (Maywood). Roxeanne Hazes, Douwe Bob, Jopie Parlevliet (Richard Groenendijk), Anita Meyer, Danny de Munk, Glennis Grace, Kees de Bever, Monique Smit, the Supremium Tribute will also be performing during Patty's party.
