Shownieuws
Patty Brard appears sporadically on SBS6's infotainment news program "Shownieuws" as a showbiz expert.
Among the items she and her colleagues discussed:
The secret wedding of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk (journalist and TV presenter) and Martha Riemsma (director of ANP, the largest news agency in the Netherlands) - December 21st
Patty found it striking that the bride, Martha, wore a turtleneck sweater, which she described as "nice and casual" and practical. She appreciated the relaxed atmosphere of the ceremony, emphasizing the absence of unnecessary fuss, which she saw as ideal for an intimate setting with family and friends. She also mentioned how the ceremony was small and informal, featuring a lunch and champagne, with Bart Chabot stepping in to officiate instead of Özcan Akyol. Patty noted this as significant, given the reportedly strained relationship with Akyol. Regarding the overall approach, Patty remarked, “Just nice with the kids,” reflecting her approval of the personal and laid-back nature of the wedding. Patty’s remarks conveyed admiration for the couple’s simple and practical approach, contrasting it with the formality of traditional weddings.
Dutch celebrity gossip magazine Story published pictures of the casual wedding.

Rachel Hazes' tell-all book (January 1st)
Patty Brard Vs Rachel Hazes
La Brard strongly criticized Rachel Hazes' upcoming scandal book, calling it "very ugly" and expressing disdain for the entire situation. The former Luv' singer dismissed the book as something people might want to read out of curiosity but ultimately found it distasteful. She remarked, "It’s very ugly, all of it." While discussing the potential drama surrounding the book, including allegations against André Hazes Jr. and others, Patty expressed indifference, saying, "I couldn’t care less." She observed that André Jr. had successfully shifted public opinion in his favour, contrasting sharply with Rachel, who lacks the same "likability factor". Patty noted André’s strategic use of social media to reshape his image.
Finally, Patty lamented the damage to the Hazes family name, calling it "contaminated" and expressing regret over the ongoing scandals tarnishing their legacy. Her reaction underscored disappointment in the spectacle and a sense of fatigue with the endless controversies surrounding the Hazes family.
Gordon’s Reality Show Sequel in Question: ‘John de Mol Hasn’t Approved It’ (January 1st)
John de Mol Vs Gordon
Patty expressed scepticism about Gordon's plans for a follow-up to his reality series "Dit Ben Ik: Gordon" on SBS6, emphasizing that no official approval had been given. She pointed out that while producer John van den Heuvel might be working on a new series featuring Gordon's upcoming ventures in Bonaire and Curaçao, John de Mol (boss of Talpa, which owes SBS6) had not yet committed to airing it. She stated, "It hasn't been sold yet. John hasn't said, 'Bring it on'". Reflecting on the first season of the Gordon reality show, Patty acknowledged it did "reasonably well" with delayed viewership but noted it was not groundbreaking or as revealing as promised. Patty's comments conveyed her doubts about the future of the series and emphasized the uncertainty of its broadcast approval.
Manuëla Kemp dying (January 11th, January 15th)
On December 7th, 2024, Dutch media personality Manuëla Kemp was seriously injured in a scooter accident in Loulé, Portugal. She had been in a coma at a hospital in Faro with severe brain injuries. Recovery was no longer possible, and she was transferred to the Netherlands to pass away. The charismatic blonde lady died on January 17th, at the age of 61, at the Tergooi Hospital in Hilversum.
Patty paid tribute to Manuëla on her social media.
As Manuëla was in a coma, Patty mentioned her twice on Shownieuws.
On January 11th, Patty became emotional while discussing the heartbreaking news about her friend who remained in a coma at age 61 and was about to fly from Portugal to the Netherlands to pass away. Patty, who shared a long-standing bond with Manuëla, expressed her deep sadness, saying, “This shouldn’t happen at 61” She shared her daily hope for Manuëla’s recovery and her wish for her friend to attend her upcoming birthday in March. Despite her grief, Patty has offered support to Manuëla’s partner, Tjerk, emphasizing the importance of being surrounded by loved ones during such a difficult time.
On January 15th, Patty shared her heartfelt experience visiting Manuëla in the ICU. She recounted holding Manuëla’s hand and saying, “Maan, it’s me, Patty,” which briefly caused Manuëla to open her eyes. However, doctors emphasized this wasn’t a sign of recovery, as there was no hope for improvement. Patty expressed gratitude for the chance to say goodbye and thanked Manuëla for the love she gave her in life.
Tygo Gernandt (January 15th)
Patty weighed in on the controversy involving Dutch actor Tygo Gernandt and Nicolette Kluijver. Nicolette expressed frustration at being implicated in Tygo’s scandal, feeling “roped in” after Dianne van den Eng, Tygo’s ex, named her as someone Tygo had messaged romantically during their relationship.
Patty noted Nicolette’s regret over the situation and her apology to Dianne for unknowingly interacting with Tygo while he was in a serious relationship. However, Patty questioned Dianne’s motives, suggesting she might have known what to expect from someone like Tygo, whom she described as a “rock-and-roll type” rather than a conventional partner.
Earlier this month, Privé magazine revealed that Tygo's ex-girlfriends accused him of domestic violence, drug abuse, and harassment. The article detailed a police report, a violent incident with one ex-girlfriend, and his abrupt dismissal from NPO 1/AVROTROS' police drama series "Flikken Maastricht" due to misconduct. Gernandt denied the accusations, claiming he only used prescription sleep medication and was considering legal action.

Patty Brard Criticizes Eric Corton’s Remarks on De Oranjewinter (January 2nd)
The Shownieuws star appeared on SBS6's talk show "De Oranjewinter", hosted by Hélène Hendriks on January 2nd.

The diva strongly criticized Eric Corton, a radio DJ on KINK, during her appearance on De Oranjewinter for his statement on the NTR talk show De Sociëteit, where he called the Netherlands a "deeply racist country". She found his comments absurd and responded passionately. She condemned Eric’s generalization, exclaiming, "For God’s sake, keep your mouth shut!" She argued that he should "speak for himself" rather than label the entire country as racist. On De Oranjewinter, she disagreed with Eric's claim, asserting that the Netherlands is not inherently racist. She explained that racism involves one group looking down on another, which she does not believe reflects Dutch society. Instead, Patty attributed dissatisfaction in the country to widespread insecurity and discontent among citizens, not racism. She suggested voters may choose figures like Geert Wilders for their boldness rather than harbouring prejudiced views. Her reaction on the show emphasized her frustration with Eric’s sweeping statement and defended the Dutch people against the accusation of being fundamentally racist.

Memories of Jocelyn Wildenstein (De Telegraaf - January 3rd)
Swiss socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein, known for her extensive cosmetic surgery, which created a cat-like facial appearance and her 1999 high-profile divorce from billionaire art dealer and businessman Alec Wildenstein, died from a pulmonary embolism at a hotel in Paris on December 31st, 2024.
On January 3rd, Patty mentioned the Catwoman in an article published in the "Privé" section (entertainment news) of De Telegraaf. "It's one of the most extraordinary adventures of my television career. At the beginning of this century, I was making a TV program about cities and their remarkable residents. We had her in our sights for the episode about New York, and to our surprise, she agreed. We arrived at a beautiful three-story house with its elevator and were welcomed by a homosexual butler. She would later use him as a kind of handbag: where she went, he had to go," Patty said.
The butler then had Patty and her producer sit down in a reception room. "And nothing happened there for three-quarters of an hour. At first, Sebastiaan Spaan and I got a bit of a giggle out of it. But at a certain point, we felt the lady was spying on us. Sebas started looking around to see if he could see any cameras, but suddenly the lady entered the room like a whirlwind. "Darling this, darling that," and how interesting it was that we had come from Amsterdam. But she turned out to be extremely suspicious! What was going on: she was in the middle of a divorce battle with her ex, a filthy rich art collector from South Africa," Patty explained.
And so Jocelyn was on her guard. "The catwoman was even afraid that he had sent us to her to get her to say things that he could use against her. That's why we had to build trust and eat first. The butler drove the Rolls Royce up and off we went, to Cipriani. They're still talking about it there. She came in like a whirlwind there too. The heating had to be turned down, and a little later it was too cold again. And no, there was no need for a menu: 'give us all the starters', twice!" Patty added.
La Brard wore a sable coat in the establishment that she had once received from her ex-husband Carlo Nasi. "It had escaped the curator by chance, and she liked that. That created a bond. But furthermore, that interview could not be about her appearance. Actually, that was the reason we came and interviewed her. I asked: "Did you not have anything done at all?" "No, darling,' she said, it's all Nivea, only Nivea!'" What a strange woman. In the meantime, the waiters had been back to the table at least seven times because the meal was either too hot or too cold," Patty remembered.
And then it happened: "Both Sebas and I couldn't take it anymore. And it wasn't because of the champagne or the amount of food. We fell asleep almost immediately in the back of the Rolls, only to wake up the next day, around noon, in the hotel. Something must have been put in our drink, but why?" For what purpose? "No idea, but we thought she was terrifying, so we cancelled the interview appointment two days later. 'Just Nivea, dear. Just Nivea.' That statement hung on an A4 sheet of paper on the wall in the editorial office for a long time. It was one of my most special encounters, although it never made it into the program."
Ranking the Stars (January 4th, 5th and 12th)
Ranking the Stars 2025 (featuring Patty Brard and Glennis Grace)
Paul de Leeuw's panel game "Ranking the Stars" returned on January 4th on RTL 4, attracting 1,602,000 viewers with a market share of 32%. The second episode, aired on January 5th, drew 1,168,000 viewers (market share: 22.8%), and the third episode, on January 12th, attracted 1,042,000 viewers (market share: 19.8%).
Among the Dutch celebrities present on this TV program were Patty Brard who reportedly earned around €15,000 per episode. This information comes from Tina Nijkamp, former head of SBS6, who discussed celebrity earnings on her podcast "Tina's TV Update".
Another Dutch VIP caused a sensation by participating in Ranking the Stars: the controversial singer Glennis Grace (involved in an incident at a Jumbo supermarket in Amsterdam in early 2022, which led to a sentence of 200 hours of community service). She made a major PR blunder during her appearance on the game show, further fueling her negative image. She laughed off jokes about her past misconduct, but downplaying her actions did not sit well with the audience. When the show discussed which stars had the most money to spend, Glennis placed near the bottom. Rob Goossens explained that she could have ranked higher had she maintained her relationship with her American management after America's Got Talent. Glennis unexpectedly blamed Rob for her financial loss, claiming his job at RTL Boulevard contributed to her downfall. Host Paul de Leeuw was surprised, and Patty asked if she was accusing Rob of "cancelling" her. Glennis suggested that the media, rather than her own actions, were to blame for her career troubles.
Patty's Panther Party - De Telegraaf (January 7th), Privé (January 16th) and Dagblad van het Noorden (January 17th)
The January 7th edition of De Telegraaf featured an article about Patty Brard in its "culture & media" section.
Patty Brard will celebrate her 70th birthday in grand style with "Patty's Panter Party" at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on March 14th. The event will feature the "Mega Meiden Groep", a supergroup of ex-members of iconic Dutch female pop formations, Esther Oosterbeek, and Anita Heilker (Dolly Dots), Marga Bult (Babe), Jetty Weels and Caroline de Windt (Mai Tai), Laura Vlasblom and Mandy Huydts (Frizzle Sizzle), and Rowan Moore (Centerfold). There’s even talk of releasing a single. Roxeanne Hazes, Douwe Bob, Jopie Parlevliet (Richard Groenendijk) and Anita Meyer will also be performing during Patty's party. A Luv' reunion will be out of the question.
Joining Miss Brard and the other artists on stage will be a familiar face: Glennis Grace, who appears on the current season of RTL 4's panel game "Ranking the Stars". "I’m a firm believer in second chances,” Patty said, referring to Glennis' Jumbo incident. "If someone has admitted their mistakes and served their punishment, they deserve another shot. I invited Glennis, and she was overjoyed." Patty added.
In an ideal world, a Luv' reunion with Marga Scheide and José Hoebee would also happen. However, Patty acknowledged it would not happen. "They’ve closed that chapter, which is fair. This is my celebration, not a Luv' party. But they’re always welcome if they change their minds!" the Prima Donna asserted.
Marga Bult, who was part of Babe from 1981 to 1986, didn’t hesitate to join the Mega Meiden Groep. "I’ve always admired Patty," she admitted. "Patty’s overcome so much – bankruptcy, years of estrangement from her child – and now she’s thriving. Turning 70, reconnecting with her child, having a great career, and achieving the body she wanted... I have so much respect for her".
When asked if there was as much bickering in Babe as there was in Luv', Marga Bult answered: "Absolutely. Not as extreme, but we did argue over things like dress colours. That’s just part of being in a girl group. I would’ve loved to see a Luv' reunion for Patty, but she has us! Forty years later, we’re coming together again, and it’s so much fun to relive those memories".
One day before the publication of De Telegraaf's article, on January 6th, the press presentation of Patty’s Panter Party took place at The All Out Amsterdam, a venue blending a vibrant bar, karaoke, games, and delicious food. The ladies of the Mega Meiden Groep (except Mandy of Frizzle Sizzle who was ill) and Priscilla Nasi, Patty's daughter, were present.
